When I was FINALLY done wrapping it in yarn, I cut out some heart shapes with my Big Shot machine. Of course you can always just cut out your own hearts! Then I used a hole punch to put 2 holes in each heart to thread the yarn through. Who knew a hole punch would go through felt?! Awesome!
Then I wove 2 pieces of yarn through the holes-this part was frustrating only because I didn't have a big enough needle so I had to push them through myself. I adjusted the hearts on the yarn and then cut the ends leaving about 6 or 7 inches of extra yarn on each side.
Then I put the heart banner on top of the wreath the way I wanted it to go, grabbed each end of the strings, pulled them to the back and tied it in a bow.
Once flipped back over, this is what it looks like!
So why did I tie it in the back, you ask? Well, what happens when I want a different look or want to decorate for another holiday or season? I most certainly am not spending another hour wrapping a wreath in yarn!! Nope, I'm just going to untie the banner, make another season appropriate banner and tie it on! Brand new look!
A very quick project! If you don't count the yarn wrapping part! :) And it literally took me about 10-15 minutes to make a second banner!
I made 2 of these to go in my dining room so I'll be sharing that pic soon! Hope you enjoy this project!

Now this is absolutely awesome, its so simple to make yet so cute!

ReplyDeleteLove this idea!! The colors on the banner are great!! It does take FOREVER to wrap a wreath with yarn, but the result is worth it!!

ReplyDeleteI made a yarn wreath for my grandmother last year thinking the same thing - wouldn't it be great to have one for every holiday? And yep - I VERY quickly changed my mind! I do not have the patience for yarn wreaths! I'm glad she loved the one she got!!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is such a great idea! I love being able to keep changing the banners with each holiday rather than the wreath. I am visiting from Coastal Charm.
